Dreading Pathophysiology

Hi-

I am currently applying to several BSN programs in California. I finished my all my pre reqs and the one I had the most problems with was physiology. The school I took it at didn't have tutors for the subject. I ended up getting a B in the class, but I feel like I walked away with very little information.

I wanted to know if any knows of a computer program or a book that would help me learn it on my own before I dive into pathophysiology, which I hear is 10 times worse than physiology.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!!

I just completed pathophysiology. I took it with med surg in my LPN program. Best thing I could have ever done. Patho goes hand in hand with Med-Surg. Patho is thought of as a BSN completion course at my school and I had to fight to be able to take it, but I am glad I did. I don't know why, but all my patients were mirrored in my reading. For example if we were dealing with Cancer I had a cancer patient, COPD..my patient was a COPDer. My instructors had nothing to do with each other it just worked out that way. I would say read a med-surg book if your patho is difficult to follow. It helped me.

Try Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Easy published by Lippincott.

These books are a great overview to use and are easy to use with your other nursing texts. In our program, we found that we couldn't just use our patho book alone to understand concepts. We often pulled out our A&P book, Med-Surg text and our med dictionaries to round out concepts. At this point, you should be used to combining your resources as much as possible to get the big picture, and not relying on one book. Patho teaches you to advance your critical thinking and makes you dig out the info that you need from several sources to have the best understanding of the disease processes.

:)

Thanks everybody for your suggestions!!

I will check these out.

Wish me luck.
