Down time

What do you guys do on your down time? My employees are up to date on their immunizations and physicals and no one has called me to check on a child. I read threads on here, read through some policies of the center and go on Medscape to read articles for CEUs however I feel like I need to be doing more. If you have any suggestions let me know. I walk to the rooms and hang out with the children and every thing as well.

It's either pouring or crickets right now -- had an hour this morning where I was just searching for something, anything to do! And then as soon as I close my door to eat something I had 5 kids needing something.

What about trying to plan ahead for presentations of any kind? Dental health, hand washing, lice, puberty . . . there's lots of resources online, admittedly some not so great, you can try sorting through everything to put together a really solid class activity.

I forgot to state that I work at a childcare development center (6wks-5yr olds). I mostly educate the employees on medication administration, asthma etc. that is completed annually and when a new employee comes in. Most often times it is in the classroom lesson plans about hygiene and the caregivers go over that with them. However, thank you so very much you have just put an idea in my head and maybe I can ask them if they are doing lessons on health and I can help out.
