Douglas/langara/kwantlen/---help

Published

Hi, this is my first post..~ Nice to meet you all. I am thinking about doing a Nursing Degree..I would like to know how competitive is it to get into Douglas or Kwantlen??... Since now there entrance procedure is no longer first come first serve...What marks are needed to get into the program?

Thank you!

Hi there, I think I can answer this one for you. I'm a Langara nursing student currently and the way it works there is that as long as you meet the minimun requirements your name is put on a waitlist. I believe douglas is like this too so as long as you meet requirements you will eventually be offered a seat. The question is just how long the waitlist is. I waited for about a year and a half for Langara. I was on Douglas's waitlist as well. Lastly, Kwantlen's seating is chosen by a random draw. So I know in the past you would apply on November 1st and then basically they pick however many students by a random computer genarized draw. If you were not to be picked for Kwantlen there is no waitlist and you would have to reapply the following year. I hope this helps you. Good luck :)

I think kwantlen only offers psyc nursing?

Specializes in Peds - playing with the kids.

I think kwantlen only offers psyc nursing?

No, not true....a regular program.

Hi, I just came back from the Douglas Info Session, they are now on preferential admission, I am going into Pre-Nursing studies to hopefully get a seat in 07 Sept. Just wondering if being a male have any advantage or disadvantage in the whole selection process. Thanks!

I don't think your sex is an issue. I'm at Douglas and there are nearly 10 male students in my current year.

Hi Nessy: Could you share what your marks were to get into Douglas?

ANy experience/ volunteer work? Thanks!
