dorsogluteal injection, nerve damage

I want to ask experiences and thoughts on this situtation. I gave patient im dorsogluteal injection and while injecting, patient said that it caused pain that radiated to leg. As soon as I took the needle out, pain ended and after two hours patient said there was no pain. Im afraid I hit sciatic nerve, but if it was damaged would the pain continue straight after?

You would need to be off your mark to hit the sciatic, or maybe variant patient anatomy was involved. Have you looked at anatomical diagrams? Did you give the injection in that area?

Review DG placement.

Also consider using VG site.

The patient has no pain now. That's about all there is to say about it. No one can tell you the chances of whether or not you damaged something but it seems rather unlikely.
