Don't know what to do? Need advice.....

Published

Here is my situation I have a M.B.A with 3.3 gpa my undergrad is in business also and it is a 2.9.

I am currently taking chemistry and biology however, I am having a hard time with both classes because I work around 45 hours a week. I think I will have drop the biology because I didn't do well on the 1st test. I feel so upset and frustrated I don't know what are my best options. My goal is to become a NP. I don't if I should do another BS in Biology and then apply or if I should just my pre-reqs.

I am looking for schools on the NE and live in Sflorida right now.

Should look into a BS in biology?

Any advice is helpful.

Thank you!:crying2:

I'm not sure about the fastest direct route with you already having an MBA...I would first off say...1 bad test score is not going to ruin your grade, you just now know how that prof tests and how to prepare better next time, now if you don't have the time to devote to the necessary studying then you're in pickle and may have to consider dropping if you cannot reduce your workload. Second, if I were you I would check out your local fast track degrees...like here they have a program if you already have a Bachelors you can get your RN in like 10 months, and then your NP in roughly 2 years....I'm not sure how it works exactly since I am not an applicant with an MBA :) there are even programs to go from bachelors to ADN and then ADN straight to NP in certain cases...just start googling and don't give up! Figure out a way to study at work, make notecards and work with them every possible minute!!

Just go up to the bio professor and ask him what you can do to get an A in the course and how you can do it. For my one of my upper level bio courses, I took the final exam, I bombed it (got 40%) and I've never really talked to the professor ever. My final grade was a D. So after he graded the final exam, I went up to him and asked him what I can do to get a B. He said it was too late to do anything at this point. I was honest and told him that I wasn't good at expressing myself when it came to writing and that's why I did really bad on the final. So he asked me bunch of questions on the spot about some of the topics covered on the exam and during the whole semester. I showed him that I knew what I was doing but just had a bad exam. After hour and half, he told me that he'd give me a B in the class. So my advice, just go to the professor and tell him your situation and the reason you bombed the first exam. I'm sure he/she would be willing to work with you. It's better to do it early than late.

Although accelerated BSN is competitive, you should still apply for it. You will have higher chances of getting in since you already hold a master's degree.

If I were you, I'd look for nursing school throughout the whole country instead of NE only because that will widen up your options and your chances of getting into a BSN program.

Good luck!

If you scored poorly in biology class, then why oh why would you try to major in biology? A BS in Biology has many difficult classes like Physics, calculus, O-chem and Bio-chem, molecular bio, etc... and that is just first two years.

Thank so much for replying to my post! This really helped out and gave me a few ideas for my biology class situation. @Mommaof3 I will research more schools and will look into the Adn bridge to Np programs. Are there any good online schools to take pre-reqs? That are good to take them? The reason I was thinking about doing a BS in Biology is to get a higher gpa but I know the sciences aren't my forte. Any tips for studying for chemistry and biology?

Thanks so much!!
