Hello everyone,

I'm about to apply for the CGFNS. I was graduated as a RN in france in 98 in a Parisian nursing school and will applying to work in PA. I just read the Applicant Book for the CGFNS. I am a little worried about the part where my nursing school have to fill up some forms (french are not so good english speaker). I was wondering if there is any french nurse now working in the US that has any experience with that? I suppose that pretty much all french nurses have the same amount of hours of study since it is a national diploma. So does the french have enough "hours of Theoretical Instruction". Does anyone know where I can find those minimums required for the CGFNS? And what about the: Request for Validation of Registration/License Forms to the licensing authority in your country of nursing education. Where the heck am I suppose to get that? and what is it? And final question, I bought the CGFNS study material, do I need to dig into my old notes and books from nursing school or that study material should be enough? For information I worked for 5 years but didn't work those last 5 years. Thanks for any help. Stephane

Not all schools have the same number of hours even in the same city in the US. Each transcript is evaluated on its own, that is why even with the same school not all may meet the requirements. It will depend on the number of theory hours as well as clinical hours that are required to be done during the same term in school. Chances are that you have enough hours if you completed a full RN program in your country.

The forms for the verification are with the actual application for the CGFNS program that you are applying for. There is not one thing for you to do with it, one is going to need to go to the licensing board where ever you have held a license as well as to your school to complete. I am sure that your school has seen them before since they have been around for more than 25 years and any foreign nurse wishing to work in the US would have needed to go thru CGFNS.
