Does everyone find the WHNP specialty as limiting in the job market as I do?

I am a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and have been working in a private Ob Gyn practice for ten years now. My prior nursing experience included 10 years of Med/Surgical and ICU. Now the 11,000 patient practice is being dissolved and we are all looking for jobs. There is really nothing out there for WHNP's, as I have been looking for about 2 years. I wanted to hear opinions about whether or not one with this specialty could be employed by a specialty where you are trained to that office: like pain care, for example. Pain is not gender specific. I've looked into Adult bridge programs but having no luck. Credits too old? Have to basically start all over. It doesn't seem to make sense with the need for experienced providers. I worry now about even being able to get an RN job in a hospital setting, as i've been out of it so long. Help!

Your experience level is very valuable...I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to get a job in another OB/GYN office with your level of experience.

That surprises me!
