Does everyone feel overwhelmed???

:uhoh3:I am a 34 Single woman with no children trying to finish my core classes so I can apply for nursing school next fall. I can do it as long as I continue to pass my core classes as I do not want to apply until then. I work a full time job and am not sure how people that work multiple jobs or that have children do it! I'm about ready to pull my hair out!

I am currently taking Pharmacology online as a summer course. Everyone kept telling me....it's so easy!! Who are they kidding! Trying to remember all the drugs, what their interactions are with other drugs and side effects, etc, etc, etc....is extremely difficult. :o I find myself flipping through the book and reading everything over again while I'm taking my test.

I keep thinking I can't do this!! :uhoh21: My boyfriend has been really standing behing me and tells me every day how smart and beautiful I am, and that I can do anything as long as I put my heart into it. I want to believe he is right, but how do I really know?

Has anyone else felt like quitting? Is this going to be worth it in the end?

Thanks - Jo (txnurse1972 - trying to get an Associates in Nursing):uhoh3:

I'm in my 3rd semester in an RN program. I work at least 20 hours a week as a waitress and have a 3 y.o son. I'm also a single parent. You just need dedication. Looking at my son makes me determine to do what I gotta do to make our life more manageable. I don't really consider my nursing program that hard because we have tons of clinical hours and I am more of a hands on person. This semester I have 225 clinical hours. It's one thing to read about it in the book but I need visuals and my school puts us on floors where we will see what what we are learning in class. (it's a hospital based program with plenty of hospitals to stick its students) You have to know your learning strategies and have time management. At my nursing school we learn the meds as we learn the material for instance if we are learning about DVT's and PE's and stuff like that, we will learn about thrombolytics, antiplatelets, and anticoagulants. I think it is easier that way cause you can apply it instead of just knowing it for a test. I hope this helps and good luck!

Ive never felt like quitting, if becoming a nurse was easy everyone would do it. At times its very demanding and overwhelming. But just take one thing at a time and when your done with it, cross it off your list. I have two boys 4 and 5 and my husband has been over in iraq since february, i am all alone with the kids and getting school completed. someone tried breaking into my house, my kids rooms no less, and i think im losing my hair from all the stress. If I can do it ANYONE can!! keep your head up!!
