The reason why I ask is that, one particular unit I used to work on (Medical) and no longer work on thank god. There would be a small majority of nurses both LPNS and RNs that would assist with the cares of there patients but the rest holy smokes, it does not fit in their time frame to do that. Compared to the Unit I have been working on and the most busiest post surgical unit, more nurses on the unit help with the cares. Its not like they run away or make an excuse to not help with the cares as some did have the legitimate excuses to attend to other needs ie AF, vasovagal or anything and others would return to assist me. However, the first unit I am talking about mostly was frustrating and really not that busy as they think they were and I am glad to be not working .
One of the nurses of the medical unit is from east and she was so good, she stated 'There is no need to keep using the NAs, only to assist'. Her time management was great and I thought she was great with the patients too.
Anyways, thanks again for answering. Its good to know how some parts of Canada works.
