Does anyone know states that pay more than NJ for travel contracts?

Finishing up contract in NJ for Maxim Staffing... they are paying me 50/hr. Actually really liked NJ once I got here and settled in.. but looking to continue traveling. I have not had any luck finding a pay rate anywhere near what I have made with Maxim in NJ though... anybody know where my best bet is?

If you are hooked on travel, go where you want to go first and worry about money second. To chase dollars, mostly what matters is finding well paying assignments in any state and that is a question for agencies that is state neutral. So you need to be in good with better paying agencies. But as in NJ, getting licenses proactively in non-compact states such as MA, CT, CA, OR, and WA gives you a competitive edge.

Thanks Ned, I really liked my recruiter with Maxim and they are nationwide. Might stay in Jersey for the summer on another contract while i look into getting my compact license. Would like to go to California in the Winter months so a 2-3 month contract here could be enough time to get my CA license. What states have you traveled to?

You need to get involved in a few other agencies if you want best pay. While Maxim is a major player for per diem, I'm not sure how they do nationwide with travel.

I'd have to count but perhaps around 15-17 states, or perhaps I should say nursing licenses as three of those are not states. There are a number of states that I will probably never go to, and that includes NJ and TX, in both cases in part because the board is so bad. Working conditions in TX and FL are both bad so I don't expect to go there (again in the case of FL), and AZ and NV look unlikely. I don't have a compact license, but pay is typically bad in them anyway. After 20 years, I am getting into a bit of rut with doing the same states, yet there are still several California locations (really large state) I have yet to work that I'd like to, and plenty more in other states I can travel to readily.
