Does anyone have an easy drug conversion formula?

Published

Hi Everyone...I am taking Pharm this semester and wanted to know if anyone had an easy drug conversion formula? Thanks for all your help! Sonohead:)

d/h (q) = x

this always works for me! good luck!

Rather than trying to memorize a formula, I'd recommend trying to understand concepts of dilution and proportion. Once you get it, you don't need to memorize anything (except perhaps for unit conversions) and you'll be able to solve any problem they throw at you.

for conversion charts and tutorials see post #2 of this thread in the general nursing student discussion forum: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/nursing-math-thread-264395.html - the nursing math thread. in the tutorials will be formulas for working problems.

D (drug ordered)/ H (drug on hand) x Q (quantity/form, ie, capsule, tablet) = A (amount to administer)

for gtt/min.....Volume / Time (use minutes) x administration set (ie, 20 gtt/ml)

I just finished Pharmacology yesterday (YAY) and had a solid A going into the final.
