I am in year 2 of 3 of my program. We began with 40. We are now in the 13-15 range for who is left. People left for various reasons. Many simply fell back a cohort. The largest challenge by far is finding preceptors. Begin to find your preceptors ASAP. Study like you never have before. Cut back on work if at all possible. Focus and no matter what happens keep going forward.

What school are you attending. A DNP online course is usually 18 months. Lots of writing and papers right? Lots of reading and research too? Please respond.

This is by far the most honest answer to my question. Do the preceptors need to be DNP nurses? I know and work with so many family nurse practitioners. Can you recommend any good DNP schools?

I'm in a BSN to DNP program at Loyola University New Orleans. No our preceptors do not have to be DNPs for the reason that there aren't many. We can use MDs, DOs, DNPs, or NPs with extensive experience and an MSN

It's ok but there are definite areas for improvement. Lots of writing. We begin our capstones this summer. I do believe the DNP should be more clinical and less theory/research. Research is the PhD

All DNP and PhD nursing programs are research based. The difference is that the DNP does research on research. The PhD does new research, research that has not been done. The capstone project is an all research project with the literature review your plan and the execution of it etc. I was in a PhD nursing program, and decided its not for me. Too long. I would be very happy to do research, but I don't want to feel pressured to do it all the time.

I am a family nurse practitioner so less clinical would be great for me since this is what I do everyday. If you were in California I could preceptor you! Thank you for your communication. I hope you are given good guidance on the capstone project. Thank you.
