Do any of you work 10 hour shifts?

Hi - Was wondering if any of you Nurses working in hospitals do 10 hour shifts. We are considering them at my hospital and I was wondering what folks thought about them.

I did 10 hour shifts on one job. I really liked them! As someone else said, they can be designed to overlap so that you have extra coverage during certain times of day. They didn't seem much longer than the 8's, but did seem much shorter than 12's!

I've always hated 12 hour shifts myself, and wondered why management would not go for 10's, unless it's that they just can't stand the thought of "extra" bodies around that aren't absolutely necessary.
