So white shoes are needed for clinical. Since we all have very different feet and personal preferences on shoes, I thought I'd see if anyone is in the same boat I am.
I've been working 12 hour shifts in the clinical area for many years and have gone through dansko's, crocs, nike, and nursemates. None were satisfactory. In fact, I swear the crocs lead to a sprained foot. I finally took my poor feet to Hanson's Running Shop in Royal Oak, MI and had them properly measured and my walk evaluated. I'm now a loyal Mizuno wearer. Fantastic running/work shoes for my feet, which are narrow, medium arched, and force me to overpronate when I walk.
Now that my feet are happy, I don't want to succumb to uncomfortable shoes just because I need an all white shoe.
Anyone else have feet like me?
And have you found a comfortable runner and/or athletic for clinicals?
I need happy feet, people.
Thanks,
Chandra

Sorry...I'm no help, just wondering what style Mizuno's you have found most comfortable? I think the ones I tried were Wave Rider (Wave Runner??), but I know they have lots of different kinds. I need something that won't require me to go straight to my foot bath/massager as soon as I get home! Thanks!!
Or maybe I can help...I see you said you've tried Nike. Have you tried the Shox? I know they make all white ones, and the shox I have are very comfy. They are squishy in both the heel and ball of foot area. I've tried many shoes that have great heel cushioning, but very few that are also comfy on the ball of my foot. If you haven't tried them, I'd highly recommend them!
I think mine are Mizuno Wave Inspire: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/35377893/c/134443.html, good for the over pronating foot type. LOVE THEM. Feet no longer hurt after 12hour shift.
I highly recommend EVERYONE go to a running store and have someone properly measure your foot and figure out if those feet pronate, supinate, or are neutral. Once you do this, you'll always know what type of shoe you need for ultimate comfort.
Thanks! I'll look into them :)

I'm a loyal mizuno wearer as well and just started nursing school. I was so annoyed to find out that mizuno doesn't make anything that would fit the dress code (black or white leather). I was hoping some of their volleyball shoes would be close enough to get away with, but no such luck. Brooks (the next best running shoe brand for me) does make some, but they are extra hideous walking shoes. http://www.brooksrunning.com/prod.php?p=12046&k=123198
I just bought some of these nike shox navinas in black: http://www.ladyfootlocker.com/catalog/productdetail/model_nbr--96068/sku--34234111/cm--GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH/
I don't normally buy nikes because my arches are high and the last is usually wrong for my feet, but when I tried them on with superfeet insoles they felt supportive and comfortable. I really hope they work out or I see ugly brooks walking shoes in my future.

Thanks, I'll look into those as well.
I just found these Sucony shoes (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7243788.html) which are supposed to help my foot type. Going to check out Sports Authority and try them on. They're not horribly ugly, although they are leather and I prefer a more breathable fabric. They DO have a version on this shoe that is mesh, but it's not for my foot type.

The most comfortable pair of shoes I have found for nursing are the sketchers shape-ups for work. They come in black and white athletic shoe leather, and mary-jane vs lace-up styles. I work 12 hour shift on a medical telemetry floor while pregnant, and these shoes not only felt good on my feet, but also prevented the back aches that other shoes sometimes caused. The only downfall is that they are not very durable. They lasted a year, and now I, too, am forced to buy new shoes. But the last year has certainly been a comfortable one!
