Do RN's meet/address the psychiatric needs of their patients?

Published

Hello! I am and undergraduate nurse in my 2nd semester of an Accelerated nursing program. I am trying to understand what role the RN has in meeting/addressing the psychiatric needs of their patients for a class assignment. Would you be as kind as to tell me your thoughts/ experiences in this area on the following blog:

I only get credit if you reply on that website, not here :( I am very am very interested on this topic as I worked with psychiatrists for 7 years. Your insight and help is much appreciated!!! I would also be interested in what training (school, CME, interest level is in mental health) Please state area of specialty and background (years as nurse, etc) when replying.
