I'm still a student (one semester to go), but there are hospitals in my area w/ & w/out team nursing. Should I stay away from the ones w/ team nursing?...Opinions?....The good & the bad?

When it comes to MY patients, LEAVE ME ALONE, and let me take care of them. If you don't trust me to do JUST THAT, then you hired the wrong person, in the first place.

So so true!!!!!:redpinkhe

My floor has adopted this model and yesterday was my first day. I hate it. The plan is 16 patients, 1 RN, 1 LPN and 1 CNA. The RN is not only responsible for the team essentially. Assessment, Blood transfusions, chemotherapy, discharges and admissions are the RN's responsibility. I think task oriented with that many patients and there is really not critical thinking going on. It creates an environment of paronoia over your license. It may be a short term fix for staffing problems, but ultimately the outcome will be disastrous.
