Kaiser is one of the largest facilities in California that uses LVN's. They are uses in the hospital and clinical settings. I'm not sure about the ratios, but when I did my clinicals it was usually 1:4. This I know for sure experience is a must, I'm a new LVN and have been trying to get a job there for months!
But i hoped this helped, good luck

I have heard that Kaiser hospitals use LVN's and team nursing but, I've also heard that their ratios in some cases are down to four patients per RN so, I'm a little confused about how their system works, if anyone can enlighten me.
I have worked at Kaiser for the past 25 years as a Medical Assistant and am ready to move to the hospital as an LVN.
Because of the low 4:1 ratio, the RN's at our (South Bay/Harbor City) Kaiser voted the LVN out during the day hours. They work strictly with CNA's. You can only get a job nights/swing shift.
I know....a bummer, but they are increasing the LVN's during the day shift in the clinics (due to them increasing the licensed nurses), so that's a thought...no weekends, 8:00 - 4:30pm Monday through Friday...what's not to like.
Good luck with your search
