I was just curious. Do most hospices only offer part-time and per diem's? I work at hospice and they have two staff who are the only full-timers in the place. They both have worked at the facility for many years. Everyone else is part-time or perdiem. Is this the way it is in most hospices? Thanks :)

I've worked for 3 different hospices and they all have had mostly full time staff with some prn positions - no per diem or per visit positions. I'm assuming that this is a very small hospice that you work for?
Thanks doodlemom. :) Yes it is a 10 bed hospice. I didn't think of that. I had thought that perhaps hospice only hired part-timers so they could save money. That's great to hear that the other hospices do have mostly full-time staff. I just want part-time right now so it's working out OK. :)

We have both full and part-time staff in our hospice house. In the home hospice teams most of our staff is full-time and that is the preference because it makes for better continuity of care.
Thanks aimeee. :) Yes I agree it's a good idea to have full-time staff for the staff who work in patient's home. I think the nurses at my place who work in the homes are full-time too.
