Do you hate your job as a Registered Nurse? Why?

Published

I hear so many people in the Nursing field speaking about how much they hate their career! Do you? why?

I don't hate being a nurse, the work itself is rewarding and I enjoy the patients. What I don't like about it is that it is not the technical challenge that I thought it would be when I started school (I work LTC), and that we are so shortstaffed all the time, no one gets time off when they need it and we are expected to work at the drop of a hat when we are here (OT, double shifts, 8's that turn into 12's with no notice). I am tired of the rotating shifts, tired of no weekends off, tired of the guilt trips from other nurses about "paying dues" and such.

But I gave my notice today for my night shift rotation, to work per diem again and hopefully more days.
