Do you hate doctors?

Im a nursing student and I just realized that I hate doctors! Theyre total douche bags! I was at a clinical and it was lunch time so I sat down at my table. Then this doctor asked if he could sit down because I had two empty seats. So i said sure go ahead. Then two other doctors show up and he tells me that he needs my seat because he has another friend coming. Who the hell does he think he is? is it because Im a nursing student and he thinks hes a doctor hes better than me? I really hate doctors and Im rethinking my career choice because I dont want to work near these evil cruel people. Are the doctors you work with terrible too?

don't generalize your one experience to all doctors.

Agree that the doc was very rude.

However, hating all doctors is kinda like hating all of any group

Good luck in school.

No actually I like pretty much all the docs I deal with. A couple are a little aloof but none are really nasty.I also deal with a lot of female doctors.

No, man of my best friends are physicians. I have only worked with one that was a jerk, and that was almost 20 years ago. He's probably dead by now. ;)

People treat you how you let them.

I only hate one, enough to not let him touch me if I were to be admitted to the hospital.

this isnt the first time a doctor has treated me badly. Its a long story but a doctor I saw broke the Hippa act and shared my information with other doctors!

i was hearing of a nurse who actually married one! Thats crazy

Good Lord, back up on that yellow brick road, Dorothy!

Please, I beg you, do not generalize all docs as hateful and rude. I seriously doubt that the doc even knew that you were a nursing student. He seems to have been so wrapped up in getting seats for his friends that he didn't realize that you were a student.

My best friend is a doc. She is the most accommodating, most thoughtful person in the world. Sure, there are some arrogant jackwagons that think they can push anyone around, but they are (thankfully) few and far between.

Don't let this one experience cloud your view of docs as a whole.

You have a lot to learn in the grand scheme of things.

As in gossiping in the elevator, or as in sharing your records with consulting specialists?

Even if it was the former, jeez, it's a whole TWO doctors you've had bad experiences with. If that's enough to make you hate an entire group of people, you're going to find the world a lonely, lonely place.

And yeah. They're called my parents.

90% of the doctors I deal with are great. They respect me, I respect them.

Yes - there are jerks out there. News flash - no matter what profession you choose, you will run into jerks.

Question - lets play lets pretend. What if the person that said they needed your seat was another nurse? an RT? a lab tech? a visitor? Would you still be re-considering your career choice?
