Do you hate doctors?

Im a nursing student and I just realized that I hate doctors! Theyre total douche bags! I was at a clinical and it was lunch time so I sat down at my table. Then this doctor asked if he could sit down because I had two empty seats. So i said sure go ahead. Then two other doctors show up and he tells me that he needs my seat because he has another friend coming. Who the hell does he think he is? is it because Im a nursing student and he thinks hes a doctor hes better than me? I really hate doctors and Im rethinking my career choice because I dont want to work near these evil cruel people. Are the doctors you work with terrible too?

No. I do not hate doctors. If you decide an entire group of people are douchebags because one person was rude to you maybe you're too sensitive for this line of work.

Even if it was the former, jeez, it's a whole TWO doctors you've had bad experiences with. If that's enough to make you hate an entire group of people, you're going to find the world a lonely, lonely place.

He told other doctors in the clinic not to see me because he thought I was crazy and he banned me from coming to his clinic after he mistreated ME. I went to see a gynecoligist for the first time so I wasnt familiar with the procedure and it hurt so I screamed at him to stop because I was uncomfortable. After that I called him to talk about my condition and he flipped out on me. He made fun of me for screaming at the appointment and treated me like a bag of garbage. Mind you hes supposed to be the best gynecoligist in the U.S. with the best bedside manner. smh

I like my doctor coworkers more than my nurse coworkers.

All our docs are wonderful (except one who is a real jerk)

oh....that make sense! Nope I come from a medical family. I think I went into nursing to connect more with my father who worked all hours and came howm and slept in the recliner till dinner, then again after dinner, feet up, tv on, med cal journal in his lap. I also was angry as hell with him for a while in my 20's and 30's cause he wasn't really able to be emotionally there for me.

Why is everyone just assuming Im trolling! I just wanted to vent and share my experiences with people who I thought would understand:confused:

Calling an entire profession "douche bags" and making the statement, "I really hate doctors and Im rethinking my career choice because I dont want to work near these evil cruel people.", doesn't exactly sound like you were looking for understanding.

Because a doc asked for your seat, you equate them to being evil and cruel? Wow.

Lots of doctors in my family and I have worked with tons of them since I was 19. They are just like regular people - some have personality issues, most do not.

I have not read the whole thread, but as a student it is only polite to give up your seat to those who are actually on the clock and working, whether that is in the break room or at the nurses' station or at a computer pod. Was the MD right to ask it of you? Maybe not. But it was not out of line for him to. If anything you would be seen as rude, as a student, for failing to get up, not because the individuals were MDs but because they were employees and that is their place to sit and take a break from work. Would you have even thought twice about this if an RN asked you to get up?

Always remember, regardless of your personal feelings, that every exposure at the hospital is a working job interview. Next time volunteer to get up when you see others coming, no matter if they are an MD, a nurse, an aid or in housekeeping. You are a student there and thus a guest. Do the polite thing.
