Do they check for convictions or charges for employment? (hospitals, nursing homes)

I don't understand why my previous question was deleted, while this board if full of similar types of questions.

My question has nothing to do with BON, I'm well-aware that expunged misdemeanor has to be disclosed to BON.

I want to know if it is charges or actual convictions that hospitals and nursing home employers want to know about. Because expunged misdemeanor is No conviction--but the past charge from arrest doesn't get erased.

So I want to know if fingerprinting that is usually requested by facilities reveals just convictions or also charges.
