I'm interested in becoming a nurse and joining an accelerated nursing program. Out of curiousity I checked out job hunting sites to see how in demand they were and the usual criterias and many requirements were a BSN. Does an accelerated program give you a BSN after completion?

When you are referring to "accelerated programs", are you referring to people that already have a Bachelor's degree in another field? That is called Accelerated BSN program (ABSN) or Second-Degree BSN. Those programs require you to have a Bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field. The schools waive the general education requirements because you have completed them in the first degree. That eliminates 2 yrs worth of schooling. Then they condense the remaining two yrs down to 12-18 months through shorter semesters or in the case of my program (15 months) 2 short summer sessions, regular Fall and Spring semesters, and ending with 1 long summer session.
The degree you earn is a BSN. It is the same degree as if you went the traditional 4 yrs. The only issue is if you plan on working in the UK. They don't accept BSNs from an accelerated program because of the shortened length of schooling.
