On your side, you don't want to be submitted for assignments you have no intention of taking (absent a real deal breaker discovered during the interview). Waste of everyone's time and the resulting frustration leads to these draconian policies.

That's the sad part. I had every intention of taking the position(the hospital is in my ideal location) but couldn't accept the start date they wanted due to unforeseen circumstances. I even let the manager know in the interview. I let them know, they threatened to blacklist if I didn't accept. It was weird. I never heard of such things.

Can you be put on the DNS list through an entire hospital system for turning down a contract? I'm unable to take this position and was wondering if that makes any sense.
