In California, does a DNP need to have physician supervision?

A DNP is a degree. It has absolutely nothing to do with scope of practice.
"Do my patient charts need to be countersigned by a physician? The Nursing Practice Act (NPA) does not require physician countersignature of nursepractitioner charts. However, other statutes or regulations, such as those for third partyreimbursement, may require the physician countersignature. Additionally, some malpracticeinsurance carriers require physicians to sign NP charts as a condition of participation.Standardized procedures may also be written to require physicians to countersign charts.(California Nursing Practice Act Article 8 BPC §2834 §2835 §2835.5 §2835.7 §2836 §2836.1-3 §2837)" http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/regulations/npr-i-25.pdf

Not familiar with California, but I concur with the previous poster. DNP is a degree- look at the practice act and legislation to determine physician involvement.
