Distant learning to get my RN?

Published

Hi all, wanting to know if there are any reputable online nursing programs that would allow my wife to get her RN. We live in a very small town and she has been in a comunity college for 3 semesters now and was all but guranteed a spot in the nursing program. She made a 7 out of 8 on her nursing test and has a GPA of 3.3 and yet was told it was not good enough to get into the nursing program. Any information would be very very appretiated.

TY.

ok just looking around and see alot of posts about Excelsior. Im a bit confused. Is this a program a person that does not have there basic RN degree can get into. If not is there any out there that allow this? Thankyou again in advance.

Hi,

Check out Deaconess College of Nursing; they have a program that you can go from not having a health related background to an RN entirely online with exception of clinical validations that you do at the end of the semesters in St. Louis,MO and your clinicals that you would do at a local hospital. The program has an LPN phase which is the first year of it and an RN phase which is the second year and it leads to an ASN. I'm in at the end of my second semester and I'm happy with it. Their web address is http://www.deaconess.edu

Hi cnmsales,

Excelsior College is open to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, and individuals who have completed at least 50% of a traditional RN program in a college or hospital diploma program.

Any credits acquired in a community college or 4 year college, as well as CLEP exams can be transferred to Excelsior. After graduating, you receive an Associates Degree in Nursing and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX licensing exam.

Hope this helps!!!
