  1. Hi Judi, Don't fret!! I see that you work in an ER, got your BSN and you are a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)!!! Awesome!! The MSN will open the rest of the doors for you...WORK YOUR WAY UP THE FOOD CHAIN 1. Hospital Educator...critical care, acute care, etc. 2. Nursing Instructor for LPNs, RNs, RN to BSN programs 3. Administrative - Nurse Manager, Department Director, VP, Director of Nursing 4. It will give you the needed credibility should you choose to get published...just check out the credentials of those writing for the ENA Journal of Emergency Nursing. 5. Role model....nursing students and your fellow co-workers will be inspired by you even if they don't necessarily express it to you. 6. Self accomplishment......You did it!!!! (that's #1 on my list!!) Stick it out, you owe it to yourself!!!! ER911 RN, BSN, MSN candidate
  2. To Spazzy Nurse and Lorri, Congratulations to you two for a job well done!!!!!!!!! ER911, Excelsior Graduate '98
  3. I work with a Physician Assistant who recently got her Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph's College. She loved it....only having good things to say about the place. You do have to spend 2 weeks residency at the college in Standish Maine. Look at it as a vacation!!:) Good Luck, ER911
  4. Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey www.tesc.edu offers an online BSN program that is NLN accredited. I don't know what state you're from, but the program is open to New Jersey RNs or out-of-state RNs who are working in New Jersey. Hope this helps, ER911
  5. Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey is a state school which offers an NLN accredited BSN program online. Their address is www.tesc.edu. I got my BSN from them in 2003. Good Luck, ER911
  6. Hi cnmsales, Excelsior College is open to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, and individuals who have completed at least 50% of a traditional RN program in a college or hospital diploma program. Any credits acquired in a community college or 4 year college, as well as CLEP exams can be transferred to Excelsior. After graduating, you receive an Associates Degree in Nursing and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX licensing exam. Hope this helps!!! ER911 Excelsior Graduate '98
  7. I graduated from Excelsior College (then known as Regents College) in 1998. During this time I worked on an orthopedic unit as a patient care assistant. Yes it was grueling, but every test I took motivated me more and more to continue. The nurses on my unit were indispensable in helping me acquire the necessary clinical skills to pass the CPNE. When I graduated, my hospital offered me a position working on the telemtry unit. Here I gained invaluable experience and became certified in ACLS. A year and a half later, I was offered a position in the emergency department, which I still hold today. In 2003 I graduated from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey with my BSN, and am now starting my MSN through the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Both of these institutions are state schools and their programs are offered online. Case in point, just do it!!! There's no better time than the present to make the move. I will always be grateful to Excelsior College for making my career goals come true!! Good Luck, ER911
