Is it appropriate to discuss general facts about mental health issues with a professor if you think it's affecting your ability to learn material? I feel this is an issue of professional boundaries. I don't want them to think I'm looking for sympathy, I genuinely would like suggestions from them about strategies for success. I honestly dread needing to talk about this. I feel one response would be talk to a counselor, which I am doing, but I feel like their advice is informed from a more general perspective & doesn't always transfer to strategies for academic success in the nursing program. Any opinions would be appreciated! Should I breach the subject or not- and if so, how would be best?
