Disability for travel nurses

Published

I hurt my back at work not too long ago. I've been kinda bearing it for the past few days but it's starting to get worse. Plus I'm pregnant so the back issue coupled with normal pregnancy back ache is really taking its toll on me. I'm reluctant to break my contract but they aren't very sympathetic at this hospital so they're not going to cut me any slack. I posted before that this assignment was difficult and the management wasn't really that caring. I had to lift a patient and I asked for help and nobody ever came. They said everyone was busy and there was no one available to assist me. I don't think I get workers comp or anything but I purchased short term disability last year that i was going to use for my maternity leave. I was wondering if anyone has ever taken a disability leave while on assignment and how that works. Would my agency hold that against me for future assignments?

They won't wait for your next assignment, they will dun you for missed hour penalties from this contract. Depends if they are paying for housing, their general outlook, and your value and relationship to them. Read your contract for the worst case penalty.

Did is you report your injuries to the hospital and your agency when they occurred? If so, you are elegible workers comp.
