I am a DON, and can I say if something goes wrong its your fault. In my building it is hiring, firing, evals, incident tracking, med errors, educating of staff, educating families, implementing policies, sometimes creating policies, QA, meetings, meetings, meetings. I love my job. It has its ups and downs, but it is what you make of it.

to stay calm when all heck is breaking loose...to set standard and policy in accordance to DOH and your facility director- understanding that both may not necessarily want the same thing!!

Surely there is a job description of the DON position? What did you learn during your interview for the position? Did your predecessor leave you any information?
