I asked this totally non-medical advide question:

I'm not a CRNA and I wanted to get opinions on a dose of propofol that was given for a colonoscopy. Healthy 100kg male, no medical issues other than a history of OSA. Propofol was the only drug, given push, total dose was 490mg. I realize that propofol it titrated for effect, but doesn't 490mg seem high? Also, with the possibility of OSA would it have been better to add fentanyl so as to use less propofol? Just curious. Thanks

I have been writing software to alert providers of doses "outside" the normal ranges...this one seemed like a real doozy.........I wanted to get CRNA's gut reaction as to if this seemed excessive.......strictly a lab excercise.
