scottish registered nurse thinking to go to ontario in july to check out the job situation. dont have a degree is there any other option to get a job in nursing without it.

Ontario is requiring the four year degree as entry level there for licensure. If you have completed only the three year program, it is not going to get you licensed there.

Be aware that there are other provinces that will accept your training, but it also has to include all of the required areas such as peds and maternal health as well as mental health/psych.

No other option for licensure there as an RN. The RPN there is a two year program and would be similar to the Enrolled Nurse that you may be familiar with.

If you were licensed there before this rule went into place, then one would be grandfathered in, but without being licensed there, you are going to need to have the four year degree or equivalent. Also be aware that they cannot even legally offer you a job without you having gone thru the province for licensure and approval of your credentials first.
