My daughter had SJS after Cipro....was horrid... Allergist told her to never,never take any AbX in that class again. Luckily she didn`t need any skin grafts

And I,also, haven`t used Dilantin in ages...just Cerebyx

we have a couple docs that prefer dilantin... but most with change the order to cerebyx if we suggest it. we only keep one or two vials of dilantin in the pyxis, but plenty of cerebyx.

Still see IV Dilantin pretty commonly in my neck of the woods.

I've given IV Cerebyx once, and that was when the intensivist was in the ER with that particular pt, giving us orders.

Always get a chill when I think of what could happen if someone got Cerebyx and Celebrex mixed up...

Well, it's happened. We only use IV Cerebyx in our hospital, and only oral dilantin. That way if we get Cerebyx ordered PO, then we or the pharmacist has to call to clarify what drug we're supposed to be giving.
