I'm looking to buy a digital recorder and was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on which brand seems to have the best recording quality.

Thanks

I have the olympus DS-330. It was about 130 bucks and you can download the recordings to your computer. It seems to work great so far :)

I have an iRiver MP3 player that also does voice recordings...had it for a year but finally started recording lectures this past Thursday. It was real easy...I can download them to my PC and burn them to a CD as an MP3. Very cool...I have last year's model but here's the current 256MB one:

Here's the 128MB one as well:

I like that its very versatile so you don't only have to use it for school. It has an FM tuner and you can download songs onto an MP3 format to use as a walkman. I find it very handy for exercising on the treadmill. Also, you can adjust the quality of the recording...I used mine last week and set it at the middle range for quality for a total of 7 hours recording time. The results were excellent.

I use the Sony IC recorder ICD-P28 and love it. I record on High SP and sit in the front row near the instructor. It records up to 9 hours and I can upload with one or two steps only to my laptop. Highly recommend it. (always take an extra pair of batteries with you to class just in case--although the batteries seem to last longer than a regular tape recorder--plus you don't have to bother with changing tapes every hour, which can be distracting and annoying for you and your neighbor in class).
