Differences in online school and college.

Nursing Students Online Learning

I didn't make the cut in this years BSN program. So close, but missed Teas testing date. Ridiculous isn't it?

I am interested in online schools. Excleisor maybe. I am a Georgia resident and already have a BS. Ed.

Are there any differences in graduating from an online school versus a regular college campus? Is pay different? Or are you more likely to be hired based on how you received your degree? Where do you do clinicals? Are online schools much more expensive? What if you decide to leave online school and admit to college campus nursing program...are these transferable?

Thank you! sorry to bombard you all with questions.

Employers are interested in your nursing work experience and your nursing license being clear. They do not care where you obtained your education for the most part. Some places are being more selective in looking at grades in nursing school and possibly the nursing program because of the economic environment, but this is not to be expected everywhere. If you graduate from Excelsior, you should have no problem, depending upon your state. Some states (CA and MA) do not accept Excelsior grads for licensure and other states put forth extra requirements. But you need to look into the Excelsior program, http://www.excelsior.edu, to see their requirements. One of them is to have a background in health care, usually satisfied by possessing an LPN license. Do not expect nursing courses (exams) taken at online schools to transfer to other nursing schools. For that matter, few nursing schools accept the nursing courses taken at other nursing schools. Differences in costs would have to be investigated from one institution to another. Excelsior College has their fee information posted on their website.
