Did a stupid transcription mistake

Has anyone out there accidently d/c'd a narcotic without an order? What happens after this? Is this more than a medicine error? Help -- I need some guidance with this.

I dont understand...how can you DC a narc, or any other med for that matter, without an order?

i am confused like the above poster. based on the title i am guessing that you miswrote a verbal order then submitted it in error. or you rewrote an original order and submitted it to pharmacy.... if either is so, then the order should not be dc'ed. in fact, check your policy on making such mistakes. in my hospital we just notify the proper channels (in this case it would be the pharmacy) of an error and void the incorrectly transcribed order. afterwards we re-write the verbal order that the physician will sign later or cancel the mistaken order and resubmit the proper order correctly.
