Did you do an Accelerated BSN program?

This is a very interesting topic.

I am eager to hear responses as I am about to being an accelerated BSN program.

Is this research for a class or for a dissertation?

Which accelerated program did you attend? Not necessarily the school but what type of program.

What prerequisites were required for your program?

They were pretty similar to other nursing programs. I did have to take ethics, nutrition, and communications.

What is your overall feelings towards your nursing education in an accelerated program?

It was definitely a challenge but I'm glad I did it.

Do you feel like you were prepared adequately?

I would say that I was very well prepared to take and pass the NCLEX. I also feel prepared to be a safe nurse. Nursing school and working as a nurse are two completely different things. I know that when I start my job at the end of the year I'll probably feel like I don't know anything.

Do you think you got a good return on your investment?

Yes

Would you advise others to pursue an accelerated degree?

I don't think it's for everyone. You need a lot of support from family and friends during the program. You literally have to make school your life.

If you had it to do it all over again would you obtain your degree the same way? Why/Why not?

I would do it over again because the year went by a lot quicker than I thought and even though it was very challenging I feel well prepared.

I think the student's background, education level (BA, MA, PhD, JD etc.), income level, geography, past employment history (teacher, social worker, scientist etc.) , age (21-25; 26-30; 31-35; 35-40; 41+ etc.), even marital status and if have children are also factors in choosing an accelerated BSN program.

Are all accelerated BSN programs the same?

How do accelerated BSN programs compare with direct entry masters programs (generalist masters) in ability to find work and long-term career advancement?

MCPHS post-baccalaureate program. As in, you needed a bachelors in another degree to get into the program

Lots...Well, the many that are required for any Nursing program: Micro, A+P, Statistics, Organic Chem, Inorganic Chem...

What is your overall feelings towards your nursing education in an accelerated program? Loved it!! Could focus on exactly what I wanted to do!

How long did your program take? 16 months

Do you think you got a good return on your investment? Investment-wise, it was costly. Private schools are expensive! But the quality of the education I received was well worth it

Would you advise others to pursue an accelerated degree? Only if you know FOR SURE you want to be a nurse. I knew for a long time and had a lot of bumps in my road until I actually could actively and finally pursue my dream!

If you had it to do it all over again would you obtain your degree the same way? Why/Why not? In a heartbeat. For those of us nurses who know this is what we've always wanted to do, you know the accelerated and fast paced program is well worth it. I love love love the path I chose!
