In our unit, we place clipboards on top of our HD machines, chart q30min VS and machine parameters, and then take that sheet to our computer to chart 2-3 times per run.
It's coming down from State guidelines that this will be against infection control protocols.
What do all you fellow HD nurses do for charting??

That's how we did it too in the chronic clinic. I dont remember it being a problem when state came, but i can see how it is. In acutes, we have a little table at the foot of the bed or chair and that's our "clean area" for charts and paperwork, gloves, etc. I wonder if you could somehow get a table on wheels and maybe have one table per 3-4 patients. Not totally ideal, but I can't really imagine another way to get it away from the machine/patient "dirty area".

Computer charting. On a COW. (Computer on wheels) But if you call the IT department with a problem don't call it a COW. Someone was offended. It's a "mobile computer application".
