Dialysis or hospice nursing

Published

Hello guys...

I know its like comparing apples with oranges. I have been working as a dialysis nurse for last 5 years. I've worked in clinics with Davita, Fresenius, and HCA acutes as well. Right now, I'm kind of thinking to switch my speciality to Hospice care. I have no plan in doing med surg, telemetry, or ICU. I was wondering how it will be in a hospice inpatient center. I have no interest in doing home hospice care. My prime concern is better working hours. Dialysis has crazy hours in clinics starting from 4 am. Acute dialysis has oncalls which I don't love, also Acutes dialysis gets boring sometimes as well. I used to handle dialysis clinics with 16+ patients per shift pretty good. I was wondering how is the stress levels in hospice facilities comparing to dialysis clinics. I know they both are completely different, but I wanna know about the levels or intensity of pressure you feel in hospice. What hours you work in hospice centers, and main stress factors.

Thank you very much.
