I am new to home health (less than 3 weeks) and have a patient who has been a diagnosed diabetic for more than 10 years but has just recently decided that it's time to start "taking care of this." I have printed out multiple diabetic edu handouts, diabetic recipes, ect and still the patient doesn't seem to understand the process. I have her keeping a food journal this weekend in hopes that we can get a handle on what she's currently eating and how to change her habits. Does anyone else have any advice? Any websites that I can check out and get some more ideas.

Years ago I ordered a diabetic care kit that has served me well and has been passed on to numerous other nurses. It came with handouts, pamphlets, videos, etc. and was wonderful for patient teaching.
If you can't find anything on the website, PM me your email address and I will send you PDF versions that you can print out.
