Denver School of Nursing BSN reviews, please?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I'm currently completing prereqs and plan to apply to DSN later this year for the summer/fall 2016 cohort. However, I'm reading a lot of discouraging reviews, as well as reviews that are polar opposites (e.g. "the teachers suck" vs. "the teachers are very educated and willing to help").

Can anyone elaborate on their experiences, please? Classes, teachers, workload, clinicals, expenses, culture, etc. I'm trying to discern if the school really is that bad, or if the people bashing it maybe weren't prepared for the intensity of nursing school and/or performed poorly. This is one of the longer programs that I'm apply to (20 months vs. 12-16 month ABSN programs) and I can't imagine it being any more difficult than most accelerated programs.

I'd be coming from the East coast and Denver is a place I've considered moving to in the past, so I've been getting excited about applying to DNS, but now my balloon is deflating a bit. Any information that you can share would be much appreciated!

LOOKING FOR SCHOOL REVIEWS?

Have difficulty deciding which nursing school to attend? Trust your peers. See what they have to say. Do they recommend the school? How was their experience? What do they think of the instructors? Is the school affordable? This is what you will find at Best Nursing Universities and Colleges | Peer Reviews directory.

Hi purplepixie,

I was wondering if you even ended up enrolling at DSN. I am thinking of applying and would be curious what you think? Or if there are any more current reviews, opinions out there?

Thanks!

I worked with a gal who got accepted and will start there in January. She is a terrific CNA and I think she will be a great nurse. She is a hard worker and will succeed where ever she goes. Me I am waiting to get into Front Range because I don't want to go bankrupt going to school but I will have to take my BNS after I finish my RN... oh well

Hi melisamct,

I did not end up applying to or enrolling at DSN. I pursued some different options. If I recall correctly, I think I was put off by DSN's website. The information provided about the program and application process was limited and it seemed outdated. BUT, unless I'm confusing them with another CO program, it looks like they've totally revamped their website and even posted the curriculum.

After a quick review, DSN's BSN program looks solid to me. Definitely structured different than mine. That's really neat that they actually have a Mental Health class and that it includes clinical hours.

I can't speak to the quality of the program or the education, but it seems well worth of applying to! If I was applying to programs at this point in time, they'd be on my list. Their pre-reqs are pretty minimal, which is a huge plus.

Best of luck to you!

How’d it go with DSN? I’m looking to apply
