Hi! I'm currently a college student in a General Arts and Science, I have been thinking about becoming a nurse for the last few years. A hospital is the only place I can see myself working, but I have a few issues that impact that. First, I have never been good at math and I failed high school chem. I know that's pretty much the basis of nursing, so I am not sure what to do. The second is that I have a very strong gag reflex. I was really sick a few years ago and was vomiting every night, so I gag very, very easily. I gag pulling hair from a hair brush. I just want some input or advice. Anyone in a similar gagging situation? How did you know nursing was the right career for you?

I'm not great at math but so far the hardest math I've done was calculating drip rate or drip factor and it's VERY basic math. If you can cross multiple and divide you'll be fine.
I'm not passionate about nursing in the sense "nursing is the right career for me". I chose nursing because I want to be a general practitioner eventually. So becoming a nurse was the first step...then I'll be moving on to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Try going through a CNA course. It's a smaller time commitment and if you hate it, nursing may not be for you. But also remember that there are so many different departments you could work. And some nurses do office work and that's it.
