MSCHONY (the children's hospital part of NYP-Columbia) starts pretty much everyone on nights, at least on the units. Day spots open up by seniority, it's a union thing. You might be able to get something in endoscopy or radiology, which is where some of our girls go when they get sick of waiting for a day spot to open up.

Ok, I know I'm not the only one in this boat... I will need to find a day job when I graduate (in 2 years). I will most likely have a child by then (I am adopting from foster care soon, but that's another long story). Overnight shifts are not an option for a single parent.
Need good ideas - I live on Long Island, but would like to hear from everywhere. My sister in law suggested home care/hospice, nursing homes and sometimes the hospitals have day shifts for new grads depending on how desperate they are.
Anybody have any recent experiences finding a day job as a new grad? Thanks.
