Hey Guys. I'm currently in my last semester of nursing school. I'm drained, physically, mentally and emotionally. I'm so tired of nursing consuming every aspect of my life. At times, I find it difficult to make time to buy groceries, my apt is a mess and my social life is basically non existent. I've been through so much in my program. My first semester I nearly failed out. I failed Pathophysiology with a 70 and dropped health assessment. I've made it through 5 semesters on academic probation and I currently have a 3.3 Gpa. I passed Hesi Exit with a 949 (my school requires a 900). I have to start applying for GN positions but my confidence is so shot. I don't feel competant in my clinical skills. I currently live in Houston, Texas and GN positions are very competitive, I'm even thinking of moving back to where my parents are ( it's a smaller town in Texas) because I feel I will get eaten alive by the tough fast paced world of Nursing in the big city, I really want to stay in Houston but I'm so afraid. Do you guys have any advice on the area I should start off in, whether or not living in a smaller town will be easier for a new nurse and how to cope during these final days? Please Help ((

I live in a small town in MD and found that the smaller towns have hospitals that are still hiring ADNs (rather than the bigger/more renowned medical centers). As a (future) BSN, working there would mean I would get underpaid. I would use working at the hospital near your parents' home as a back up plan in case you don't get hired as a new BSN (with no experience). Is there any way you can do an internship through one of your clinical sites? I would apply at every hospital I can in the Houston area, as well as hospitals around other major cities such as Austin, DFW, and San Antonio. Good luck to you!!!
