Good morning everyone,
I'm a 2013 RN grad and have been working in LTC/subactue rehab since April. I have hated this job from the start and was excited when DaVita called (a close friend works for Fresenius and I have been intrigued with HD nursing for a while after witnessing it a few times during clinicals).
I have my 3rd interview/RN shadow tomorrow at my local DaVita Village clinic. I have been voraciously reading everything (good & bad) about DaVita.
THAT said, can anyone give me advice about what to watch/focus on during my shadow-shift tomorrow (red flags, etc. as I have newbie-eyes in this situation).
The FA and charge nurse were very pushy (?) about wanting me to shadow before any offers were made, which I liked.
ALSO, the clinic hours are 5am - 4pm. Does anyone have experience with such a shift with DaVita? Is it realistic to think I will get out of work at a decent time?
Thanks in advance!

I would ask questions about patient to staff ratio. I have heard positive and negative things about Davita. I think that it depends on your manager and coworkers. I really like dialysis but had a hard time with it at the beginning. It certainly grows on you. Having Sunday off is a huge incentive in healthcare! Usually the shifts are 10 hours but it would depend on the individual clinic. We start at 4:30 and usually get out around 3-3:30.
Thanks for your response! I did like the clinic and the work was intriguing. They offered me the position, but I turned it down. I felt that it was a lot of responsibility for a new nurse and too soon in my career to specialize so specifically. Maybe in a few years...
