What is the differnce between a nursing program or a university degree in nursing besides cost? Same thing when you go to get a job? Do most nurses have a dgree froma university? Her mother seems to think she has to have a degree from a university.
That does sound exceedingly high - is that counting living away at school vs home?
For that kind of money she could even be considering out of state schools where the waiting list is shorter and the costs lower.
A note on LPN/LVN programs.... I don't usually suggest going that route - especially for someone young. The job opportunities are much more limited. I think for the cost and time investment you're better off going for the RN.

If money is an issue. Have you looked into your nearby community colleges? She could go to college and go for her RN.
