CWRU Grad Entry 2013

Published

This post is for anyone interested or accepted into Case Western Reserve University's Graduate Entry Nursing Program for Fall 2013. I am currently accepted into the program and just looking to get information from other accepted students into the program. Is anyone else having a hard time finding buzz on this topic?

Hey Kris,

I was also accepted to the Grad Entry Program for Fall 2013. I don't think I'll be attending, but I was very excited about the program and looked EVERYWHERE online for more information... and found nothing! I definitely sympathize. Where are all the current students?

I have been accepted and am enrolled in the graduate entry program for Fall. I do find it really odd how difficult it is to find any forums with their own students discussing anything about program, but I think their own reputation in general speaks for itself. I will try my best to give feedback for any interested students once the program has started. It's like people go to the program and drop off the map for the next 4 years!

Hi, Kris.

I searched like a mad woman for any kind of online discussion by FPB students when I was accepted for fall 2012 and found nothing as well. I found one person, but I ended up deferring a year. You are now officially the only person I "know" from our class. :)

On a completely unrelated note, uniform orders are due Monday, July 15 in case you didn't see that on the order form.

Oops! :0 Hi to you, too, TDubbs! Didn't see you on the thread when I first replied.

Is anyone else a Cleveland resident yet? I just moved here recently and would love to meet a fellow student or two before school starts up. What specializations for the MSN portion are you accepted into? Are you continuing right through one program to the next or have you been taking a break from school? I haven't stopped as I want to keep going while my motivation is high.

I moved to Cleveland Heights from Texas a few weeks ago and would love to meet other classmates as well.

I have been accepted to the nurse midwifery MSN specialty. When the time comes I will consider also fulfilling the additional requirements for a dual specialty in women's health. My preference would be to go straight through each program and finish with a DNP in one long stretch, but my specialty advisor, Gretchen, said that the NM MSN program sometimes requires a year or more experience as an RN in the field. That part is still a little unclear to me, but I'm sure I'll get that straightened out once I start classes.

What specialty are you considering/enrolled in?

Excellent! I'll send you a PM. I have been accepted into the nurse-midwifery portion as well, but will stop at the MSN. Looking at the advantages of getting my DNP in nurse-midwifery, I don't want to teach right out of school and I wouldn't want to open a birth center right out of school (although I would Love to someday!). That said, I would go back to school to earn my DNP after a decade or two of experience. The year or more of experience in between the two phases from what Gretchen has told me is needed if you want a preceptorship outside of the hospital. This is a big toss up in my head, but there's plenty of time to decide. Have you sent your immunization documents in? I sent mine in June but I haven't heard anything back from case saying that they received them.

Hi guys! Glad to see there are more classmates out there! I am accepted into the FNP track. As of now, I am unsure whether I want to go straight through to DNP. I would like to keep the ball rolling while I'm still in school, but who knows.. by that point I might want a break! I am originally from Ohio, but currently live in Buffalo NY. I just signed a lease to live in Lakewood, but I will not be moved out there until August. If you don't know the area, Lakewood is a great neighborhood but about a 20 minute commute to CWRU, so not too happy about that, seeing as if I lived in Cleveland Heights like you guys I would probably be able to just walk to school! I just ordered my uniforms last week, so I should be receiving them soon. I was thinking about starting a facebook group as well, what our your thoughts? I'm hoping to get more feedback from current students as well and I'm thinking maybe some of our classmates do not know all this site.

Kris, definitely start a FB group!

Starting a Facebook group would be a great idea! I agree that not all our classmates know about this website.

Hey guys, so we started a Facebook group called CWRU Grad Entry Nursing 2013 if you want to join! I also had Anne Watson send out an email to the classmates and we started a little email thread. But I think we are trying to move towards chatting on fb about our backgrounds and if people want to get together trying to make plans on there. See you soon!
