I was wondering if someone could explain simply to me how a CVP measurement is set up using a transducer, I have found out loads about how to set them up using a manometer, but not electronically using a transducer. I know that it's sort of similar as you still use fluids but don't know if the fluids get set up to the transducer & then the transducer get connected to the CVP line. I'm just getting confused about all that I've read.

There is special tubing--check your facility's policy, there should be specific instructions.
We spike a 500-cc bag of normal saline with the transducer tubing and put it in a pressure bag, inflate bag. Flush the line completely. The tubing has a cable...connect that to the cable that leads to the monitor. There are transducer holders to hold that section of the tubing that has the zeroing port; it slides in there. Connect the tubing to the distal port of the CVP.
So now you have transducer tubing that is spiked into a bag (under pressure), stabilized in the transducer holder, connected via cable to the monitor, and connected to the distal port of the CVP.
