What are the landmarks for a subclavian cvl insertion? I help md's put them in all the time in my unit but when they are in the zone, they dont really explain it too well. What do you all use to keep from hitting a lung?

As a CRNA, I place numerous central lines. I prefer to cannulate the right I/J (decreased risk for PTX).
Landmarks I use:
Left hand middle finger where the clavicle heads meet, left thumb at the inferior right ear. I palpate the carotid artery with my left index finger. Finder needle is inserted at the level of the cricoid at the internal border of the lateral sternocleidomastoid muscle toward the ipsilateral nipple
Hope that helps (i tried to just answer the question being asked)
