Cutting Nurse-to-patient Ratios in FL????

Published

I had my first CNA class last night and so far... loving it! :D

One thing, however, has me a little concerned. My instructor mentioned that the governor might pass a bill to cut Nurse Aide to Resident (she may have said Nurse-to-patient) ratios in FL . She told us to keep an eye on this and that it could possibly hurt our chances of finding employment. I've been googling this all morning and haven't found anything that explains what might happen or why. I know I could just ask her tonight in class, but I'd like to do some research before presenting ?'s. Can anyone shed some light on this or point me in the right direction to find out more about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated :bowingpur

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. You'll probably retire after 20 years in the field and people will still be talking about it. They like to talk about it, but that's as far as it goes.

There is a bill in the Senate called the "Patient's Right To Know Act" which would require hospitals to "inform" patients what the staff ratio (including CNA's) to patients is for that particular unit.
